I am a medical graduate of Dow Medical College Karachi Pakistan class of 1961. After finishing one year of internship in the department of OBGYN of civil hospital Karachi and six months of residency in Department of medicine was preparing myself for the MRCOG from London. Before this materialize I married to Dr. Alam M. Qadri who is also a Dow graduate and moved to USA with him at the end of 1963.
We moved from Connecticut to Ohio in 1965. I did a year of rotating internship at St. Elizabeth hospital in Youngstown , Ohio in 1966 and a year of primary practice residency in Denver Colorado 1967-1968. We moved to Canada for my husbands fellowship at McGill in Montreal.
I joined residency training in Pediatrics at lakeshore hospital near Montreal for one year.
After spending almost three years in Canada we moved back to Youngstown Ohio USA. Because of young growing family of four children I decided to put my carrier on hold till the last one grew old enough to go to school.
Because of a gap of few years in continuity of my medical profession I ended up repeating residency in Medicine at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown Ohio. Then joined Psychiatry residency program with NEOUCOM( north east Ohio Universities College of Medicine). After completing four years of training went into my own private practice in Akron Ohio area in the year 1984. I was appointed as instructor in psychiatry in 1985 and held that position for a few years. I am a mother of four two boys and two girls. They are all professionals two are Dentists and other two are physicians. In fact my oldest daughter is a child psychiatrist and works in Chicago area. Her daughter is now in Psychiatry residency.
After retirement in 2014 from private practice I continued to work as apart time psychiatrist for local mental health clinic. In 2016 we moved to Georgia where our younger son practices to be close to him. I did part time work in Athens GA area in a local psychiatry hospital till completely retiring in 2018. Now I provide voluntary psychiatry service to a charitable clinic, Shifa clinic run by ICNA Organization. Now I am a proud grandmother of 16, ten boys and six girls. In GA three boys and a girl are present and we are enjoying them as they are growing up. I am enjoying my hobby of gardening and traveling.
